I think fondly of the year 2019. That year I was single, which wasn’t nearly as scary as I thought, leaving me free for all sorts of adventures. A friend might text me ‘Come to New Orleans’ and five hours later I’d be on a flight. Or my sister and I would drive to Michigan to eat nachos at a redneck line-dancing bar. That year I had a crush on my pen-pal, opening the mailbox every so often to an exciting letter from jail. And what’s more, my work was going great — magazines kept flying me around the country to talk to famous singers, and one of them was Lana Del Rey!
